Aryue

From club booths in China to the DJ Mag Top 100: how Aryue broke through on Armada in 2017 and became one of the few Chinese names on the global big room circuit.

In short

  • Chinese DJ and producer with more than twenty years behind the decks, according to Revealed Recordings.
  • Broke through internationally in 2017 with “Big Party”, made with Basalto for Armada Music’s ShowLand imprint.
  • In the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs every year from 2020 (No. 88) to 2024 (No. 85).

Aryue is one of the very few Chinese DJs to reach the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll. His music sits at the festival end of dance music: big room drops, techno drive and melodies drawn from Chinese tradition. Behind the international releases is a long club career at home.

Two decades in Chinese clubs

Aryue built his name in China first. Revealed Recordings credits him with more than twenty years behind the decks and notes that he was the first DJ to be interviewed by the state broadcaster CCTV. Insomniac lists him as music director of the Galame club and as a judge for Pioneer DJ in China, and Soundcharts names him as the founder of DragonRecords.

The Armada breakthrough

International labels came in 2017. “Big Party”, made with Basalto, came out in June on Armada Music’s ShowLand imprint and reached the label’s top 100 chart, according to Mixmag Asia. The same year brought “My Power” with JuicyTrax on Loko Sound and Beautiful Land of China, a trance album on Pineapple Digital Records. In January 2019 he returned to Armada with “Guangzhou”, a collaboration with Vigel.

In November 2019 he won Best Electronic Music Producer of the Year at the Asian Music Festival awards in Shenzhen. Mixmag Asia’s report listed releases on Armada and Smash The House, a Spinnin’ Records single with Asox, “Don’t Talk”, due that December, and bookings at Ultra Europe and Amsterdam Dance Event.

Snoop Dogg, Revealed and the Top 100

Aryue entered the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs in 2020 at No. 88, the only Chinese DJ on that year’s list according to Soundcharts. He has stayed in the poll since: 84th in 2021, 86th in 2022, 82nd in 2023 and 85th in 2024. DJ Mag’s 2023 entry named “Do It To It” as his best-known track; its 2024 entry summed up his style as big room techno with Chinese melodic influences.

In 2021 he released “PARTY.” with High Up and Snoop Dogg. In February 2022, “Welcome to the Rave”, a big room single, marked his arrival on Revealed Recordings. The label also lists deals with Armada Music and Warner Music China, and shared stages with Steve Aoki, DJ Snake, Armin van Buuren and R3hab.

Where to go next

Big room techno is main-stage music: heavy kicks, long builds and drops written for festival crowds, with Aryue adding hooks from Chinese melody. For other names from the same Top 100 world, read about Martin Garrix, Timmy Trumpet and Don Diablo.
