Jamie Jones
From north Wales to DC10: the Hot Creations co-founder, Hot Natured member and Paradise host who topped Resident Advisor’s DJ poll in 2011.
- Welsh DJ and producer, born on 28 October 1980 in Gwynedd.
- Co-founder of Hot Creations with Lee Foss, and a member of Hot Natured.
- Named top DJ of 2011 by Resident Advisor; host of the Paradise party in Ibiza.
Jamie Jones worked on Ibiza’s house sound of the 2010s from three sides at once: a label, a band and a party. Hot Creations mixed tech house with nu-disco, Hot Natured took that sound into the UK chart, and Paradise made it a fixture of Ibiza summers.
From Wales to the London scene
Jones was born on 28 October 1980 in Gwynedd, north Wales. In the mid-2000s he played East London’s warehouse parties and clubs such as The End and fabric, while spending his summers working and DJing in Ibiza. His early EPs include Amazon EP, Panic and The Capsule EP (all 2006), “Lady Judy” (2007) and “Summertime” (2009). His debut album, Don’t You Remember the Future, came out in 2009, and Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels label became a key outlet for his early music. A second album, Tracks From the Crypt, followed in 2012.
Hot Creations and Hot Natured
In 2010 Jones and Lee Foss founded Hot Creations, out of what Foss called a “mutual love of house, techno, disco, soul and funk”. Hottrax followed in 2012 and Emerald City, for more song-based records, in 2015. By the mid-2010s the roster included MK, Patrick Topping, Miguel Campbell and Steve Lawler, with releases also from The Martinez Brothers and Solardo. The label’s 100th release, in 2017, was an EP by Jones himself. The two also formed the group Hot Natured, active from 2009 and later joined by Ali Love and Luca C of Infinity Ink. Their 2012 single “Benediction”, made with Ali Love, reached No. 31 on the UK Singles Chart, and the album Different Sides of the Sun followed in 2013.
Top of the poll and Paradise
Resident Advisor’s annual poll named him the top DJ of 2011. On Ibiza he built his own night, Paradise, which ran for eight seasons at DC10 before moving to Amnesia in 2022.
His own releases kept coming alongside the label work: “Siberian Express” (2015), “Land of Giants” (2016) and “Electric Mama” (2020) among them. For more from the same corner of tech house, keep digging with Claude VonStroke.
