- US DJ Behrouz Nazari, raised in Santa Cruz, California, and a long-standing name of West Coast house.

- Co-founder, with Megan Nazari, of the Miami Beach club, party and label Do Not Sit On The Furniture.
Behrouz is a DJ built for the long set. Raised in Santa Cruz, he spent sixteen years as a resident in San Francisco, then moved to Miami and opened a small club whose name doubles as a rule: Do Not Sit On The Furniture.
West Coast residencies
Behrouz Nazari grew up in Santa Cruz, California, and made his name in San Francisco, where he held two residencies over sixteen years: eight at DV8 and eight at 1015 Folsom. Time Out has called him one of the leading figures of America’s West Coast house movement. He has played Ibiza since 1995, including DC10 and Space, and his bookings have taken him to Pacha in Ibiza and New York, Warung in Brazil and Stereo in Montreal.
Miami and the furniture rule
In 2006 he moved to Miami. With Megan Nazari, he created Do Not Sit On The Furniture, a club in Miami Beach that holds 125 people. The name is a rejection of VIP culture: the furniture sits in prime spots on the dance floor. Behrouz told Ibiza Spotlight that the Miami club “was never a club out only to make money”.
A party, then a label
Do Not Sit grew beyond its room. In 2018 it held Thursdays at HEART Ibiza, with guests including Sasha, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo, Martin Buttrich and Cassy, and the DJ booth lowered to dance-floor level. In July 2019 the party travelled to Zurich for The Tree Festival. The label, run by Behrouz and Megan, started in June 2017 with Atlantis, a tribute to Ibiza by the Ibizan DJ Valentin Huedo.
Long sets, romantic techno
Behrouz plays deep house and melodic techno, a style he calls “romantic techno”; others describe it as desert or shamanic house. He has also played the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man for around a decade. His approach fits in one line he gave Ibiza Spotlight: “When you play for six hours or more, you tell a story.”
